Surprise Proposal at Grand Falls in Joplin, Missouri

January 17, 2014  •  Leave a Comment

I've been a bad photographer, neglecting my blog... What better way to get back in the swing of things than by sharing a romantic engagement session? When Whitney contacted just a few months after a photo session with her serious boyfriend and said, "Nate wants to get pictures taken again.... Weird I know the guy wants it" I have to admit my first thought was, "He's gonna propose!" but I kept my intuition to myself. While I'm getting messages from Whitney, Nate starts messaging me as well to let me know Whitney is going to schedule photos but he's got a bigger plan in mind and I'm not to say a word. I kept my promise, but Whitney is a friend and it was hard keeping quiet! Nate said he wanted to propose in the middle of the shoot to get a real view of her expressions. I had a big role to play to keep the suspense in the photos without giving away our game until the perfect moment! I don't know if Nate was nervous, he played it so cool, but I sure was! Watch and see!

We decided to meet at the beautiful Grand Falls in Joplin, Missouri.

I decided that I could get a nice view of him getting out the ring behind her. I just told her I was getting a focused picture of her with him blurred out in the background which I told Nate beforehand. She didn't know he was getting out the ring behind her!

When he was knelt down and ready, I told Whitney,

" Okay, now close your eyes..." she was a good friend

and did exactly as I asked while asking me why.

I ran over to get a side view and told her to turn around...

Obviously, she said yes. As you could see in some of the photos there were

several onlookers who were gawking as Nate took a knee.

They came up to say congratulations after the proposal

and to tell Nate how cool he was.

At this point, Whitney and I are both crying. I'm really glad I had the opportunity

to be a part of this amazing moment and their real expressions

that were captured are truly priceless and will be treasured by generations to come.

Congratulations Whitney and Nate. Now the question is, how will we top this at the wedding?
